The boar tie (Der Sauenbinder)

The boar tie is an attractant and above all a binding agent for boars. It is based on the knowledge that all living beings need salt and the cereals that are loved by boars. Depending on the type of boar tie, with more or less protein and with or without corn. The salt removes the last remaining moisture from the grain and thus the aromas. If it is now spread on damp to wet soil, this "scented salt" penetrates into the soil. The boars smell it and come and dig through the soil. As a result, they stay quietly in one place for a long time and come back again and again. If you sprinkle a part of the Kirrung over a large area, you can see that everything that is at home in the forest and in the fields comes to this place. Even if mice, rabbits, birds, deer and the like eat away the grain from the boars, no problem. That was just to flavor the salt and a little extra for the boars. The working time of the boar tie is approx. 3-4 weeks and the 1 kg bag is sufficient for an area of approx. 140 m². Although the boar tie has been (thinly) spread, the Kirrung is finished as usual. Thereby the salt in the ground, everything is still available for the boars. It is more important to spread them regularly because the boars always want to taste them.
