The Ostermayer gun bluing is ideal for repairing damaged bluing on guns or for bluing complete gun parts. Of course, other irons and steels can also be blued up to a chrome content of about 3%. The result is a deep black glossy finish.
Application:
For best results, the parts should be well prepared, the base material should be even and completely free of grease. Even when touching up damaged bluing, we recommend thoroughly degreasing the parts with Ostermayer Hunting Gun Degreaser. Afterwards, the gun bluing can be applied with the help of the brush pen. After about 2-8 minutes the area is burnished. Then rinse the treated area with warm water and burnish again until the desired blackening is achieved. Then fix the blackening with Ostermayer Jagd blackening fixer and protect against corrosion - finished. For more shine, polish with the Ostermayer Hunting Polishing Cloth.
When bluing entire gun parts or rusty guns, we recommend that you soak the gun parts in the Ostermayer Jagd derusting bath beforehand to remove all rust and any bluing residue. Afterwards, the parts should be polished with steel wool if possible and rinsed with water to achieve as even a result as possible, then blued as described above.
